Which room, and roughly what are you picturing?
Kitchen. Full gut, new cabinets and counters.
Helpful to know early — what range are you working within? It changes what I'd even suggest.
Maybe 60k?
That's a realistic full gut with mid-tier cabinetry in this market. One thing first: what year was the house built?
Market range · 20261962
Then federal lead-safe rules apply and the work needs a certified firm — we are. Design consult is $450, credited to the project. Next opening is Wednesday at 10.

What this chat can do
- Give you the honest cost range for the room and finish level you described, before you take a Saturday off for three consultations.
- Tell you when your budget and your scope do not match, which is a kinder thing to learn in a chat than on a driveway.
- Flag that a pre-1978 home triggers federal lead-safe renovation rules, which change who can legally do the work.
- Explain what a milestone deposit schedule looks like and what a normal first payment actually is.
- Book a paid design consultation that is credited to the project, against a real calendar.
Casabot gives general cost ranges and scoping guidance. It is not a bid, not a design, and not a substitute for a contractor seeing the space — every remodel price moves once walls are opened. Nothing here is legal advice about your contract. Home improvement contracts, deposit limits and cancellation rights are regulated differently in every state; read anything you are asked to sign, and check your own state's rules before paying a deposit.

Is the chat really free?
Yes. The chat costs nothing. The design consultation it books is usually paid — that is deliberate, and it is credited against the project if you proceed.
Why is the consultation not free?
Because free consultations are paid for somewhere, usually in the bid. A paid consult that is credited back means the designer's time is real and the pipeline is not full of people who were never going to build. The chat will tell you the fee before you book it.
Can you give me a price without a visit?
A range, not a price. The chat gives the honest market range for the room, size and finish level you describe. Real numbers move once walls are open — anyone quoting a firm remodel price sight-unseen is guessing or planning to change it.
What is the lead-paint thing?
If your home was built before 1978, federal rules require that renovation disturbing painted surfaces is done by a certified lead-safe firm. It affects who can legally do your job and it affects the price. The chat asks early because finding out late is expensive.
How much deposit is normal?
It varies by state, and several states cap it by statute or by percentage. The chat explains milestone schedules generally, but check your own state's limit before you pay — that is one of the few places where the rule is genuinely different depending on where you live.
What if I'm just exploring and not ready to build?
That is a fine answer and the chat will take it. It will give you the range and let you leave. Nothing is booked and nothing is charged unless you choose to book the consult.
